I just built my wife a new computer but it wont boot up. I get the error code 55 on the LCD on the motherboard if any RAM is plugged into the the A1 or A2 slot on the mother board and the 04(D4) error if I have RAM plugged into the B1 and/or B2 slot. I have taking the CPU out and back in and remounting the heat sink. I even went so far as to unplug everything from the MOB and remove it from the case and then reinstalling everything to no avail.

Parts:
CPU: Intel i7-7700k
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
MB: ASUS Maximus VIII Gene
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM 3000
PSU: Corsair - 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 780ti
HD: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Solution
You might need to use the Flashback for the board to support the Kaby. If not sure how to, post back.
On the other hand, the 04 error with BI/2 slots might be related to a bent pin in the CPU socket.
Try firstly the Flashback and then test each RAM slot with single module.

How do I do a Flashback?

Download the latest version from https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-GENE/HelpDesk_Download/
Unzip the file and rename it from MAXIMUS-VIII-GENE-ASUS-3401.CAP to M8G.CAP (if extension visible). If extension not visible, rename only MAXIMUS-VIII-GENE-ASUS-3401 to M8G.
Save the renamed file on a FAT 32 formatted USB drive.
Connect the drive to the designated USB Flashback port (check the board's manual for correctly identifying its location).
Press the Flashback button for 3 seconds.
Wait until the process completes (about 1 min).

That seems to have fixed it. I still get the 55 if the RAM is in any of the B slots though

Okay.

I keep looking at the pictures and I can't find the pin you are talking about. Can you maybe describe the location a little more precisely? The only odd pins I see are at the top left corner.
