Open world games are usually cpu heavy as they have to scale for more inputs per frame. Your cpu might get bottlenecked, but also depends on the specific games. On a GTA you might see more lag than on a Far Cry. Also depends how recent the game is. On a GTA 5 or FAR CRY 4, u might see more of the lag. Anything before that should be ok.
My suggestion is, if you plan to play any of these recent games, then change the entire setup, else you should be good.

AMD Rx 460 /AMD RX 560/NVIDIA gtx 1050 - any of those - just buy the absolute cheapest one you can find.
You'll be in the region of 40fpa high settings gaming.
That's the best you can do without changing the whole system
Bear in mind none of those cards work with VGA monitors - dvi or hdmi only.
