I have an Asrock Killer sli/ac motherboard and an aerocool p7-c1 case whenever I try to post a motherboard outside of the case everything works but once I put it in the case and connect the other connections after the intial powerup it will stay on even if I disconnect the start leads as soon as I turn the power supply on everythinh spins up but the cpu wont post and the motherboard rgb is off. I smell a light burning each time but it dissapates quickly and I cant track the source. Is my case bad? Or one of the front panel connectors causing a short?

Solution
Hard to tell exact source without being able to examine your connections, but if setup works outside case, it is quite obvious something's not right with case. Try step by step:
> put motherboard with CPU and PSU into case, don't connect ANY case cables, boot (using screwdriver method)
> if works, add up one cable at a time and boot again to see which one is the problem

If it won't work at step 1, you either have short on standoffs or on back panel.
