My headphones keep running into the same problem: after several months of use, one side stops working. Why does this happen, and how can I fix them?

Hyperx Cloud Stinger (stopped left side, was connected to direct MB), Sony and one mobile headphone (stopped right side, connected to pc case)

is it motherboard problem or what??

Solution
In mine, the source of the problem is the in-line volume control built into the headphone cord. Apparently the moving contact for the left side has a bit of dirt on it somewhere, and sometimes that side quits. I can fix if (for now) by moving the volume control knob back and forth, then stopping at a spot where it is working. I have not yet figured out how to open the little case and fix it.
