I wanted to go for a RX 580 8gb for my build (the music gaming x or gigabyte models) and none of the RX 580's in general are in stock. This begs the question, 580, 1060 6g or 1070? My original budget was $250 and I was going to get a freesync monitor. I have a gtx in my laptop right now so I have experience with the nividia programs. I have no clue what to do, because I have everything else and just need a graphics card.

I plan on getting a 1080p or 1440p monitor and want to record in the background with a card that can last 1~2 years.

Anything and everything is much appreciated. Thanks!

The 1060 and 580 are about the same but all the 580's are sold out. The 1070 is a much better card plus would allow you SLI over the 1060. The 1060 or 1070 can produce enough fps for the 1080p to make free sync a none issue. For 1440p tho you will need the 1070 te get a good fps on a free sync monitor.
1060 and 580 are almost the same when it comes to performance. 580 sometimes is a bit better but most of the time the go neck and neck.
1070 is a completely different tier that you won't afford for 250$. More like 350$+
Your FreeSync monitor suggests that you buy an AMD GPU and since your budget is 250 then I would go for 580

Have you gotten a FreeSync monitor? If yes, then, only the RX580 can take advantage of the FreeSync feature, so, you might just have to wait for them to be on stock *or* better yet, wait for the upcoming AMD Vega GPUs to be released in the market (which are aimed to take on the GTX 1070/1080/1080Ti of Nvidia).

If you haven't gotten that specific monitor yet, then, consider the GTX 1070 if you are sure you are getting a 1440p-resolution monitor. The GTX 1070 is the most powerful GPU among the choices you are considering (580, 1060 6GB, and 1070). Said GPU is ideal for 1440p/~60Hz or 1080p/~120Hz AAA games on Ultra settings. On the other hand, the RX 580 and GTX 1060 6GB are intended for 1080p/~60Hz AAA games on Ultra (it might struggle, depending on your games and settings, on a 1440p monitor - unless you are okay to decrease graphics settings for acceptable framerates).

Most graphics cards won't be effected (if at all) by the release of the vega cards. It is my understanding that it's the stupid Bitcoin miners that are to blame. I really can go with any good midrange card because my current one is a POC. I have NOT purchase the monitor yet, as I was going to wait for the graphics card
