No signal from GPU (quite a common topic here, it seems)

Hello! I've been reading a lot of threads on this topic recently and none of them had the answer to my question.

The issue is: I recently got my hands on a new GPU (a MSI N560GTX Twin Frozr II), it had been already in use on another computer and was working properly. When I installed it on my PC, at first I got no signal from it, then I tried to disable the onboard graphics from my MOBO and it worked for one week without problems. After one week I started to get some problems like the screen flickering and displaying stripes, which appeared to be a problem in the cable, because when I touched it the screen would either completely mess up or go back to normal. With time things only got worse, to the point where I got again No Signal and was forced to go back to my onboard graphics. This all happened in the time span of two or three weeks.

I really don't know what is happening. Everithing points to cable malfunction, more specifically the adapter HDMI-MiniHDMI that goes into the GPU, because the cable itself works when used in the MOBO inregrated graphics. Though I've tested it with a second adapter and still I got no signal.

About other possible culprits:

PSU - Don't think it is the problem, since I got it to work with the GPU for one week or so. It had only one 6 pin connector, I had to use the adapter that came with the GPU.

MOBO PciE (An ASUS M5a78l-M PLUS) - It was working properly with another GPU prior to the installation of the new one.

Monitor - Seems pretty unlikely to me.

Can someone please help me with a possible solution, please?
Sorry for the long post and, most likely, bad english.

Thanks!

Don't be so fast to dismiss PSU trouble. Especially if you had to use adapters. Disconnect adapter cable from PSU and make visual check for any signs on thermal damage - burns, melts and the like.

Sorry for the late answer... I've been away from my PC for the last few days.

Did just like you said, no signs of damage.

Might sound quite a stupid question, but how can I know the output resolution and refresh rates?
