I have semi modular power supply (corsair CX650M) both cables that came with it for connecting pci inputs are 8 pin on one side and 2 6+2pins on the other side. I have a gtx 1070 so I need all 8 pins but I don't need the extra 6+2 pin and it just dangles freely in my phanteks p400s case and can't be hidden away since it splits off from the other 6+2 right near the end of the cable. My question is can I reverse the direction of this cable and plug one of the 6+2 pins directly into the PSU and then plug the other clean 8pin end into the 1070? This would allow me to hide the Un needed 6+2 multi connector in the back of my case which I would love.

Thank you!!

Solution

You were right it didn't fit. I ended up just using black duct tape to tape the Un needed connector and cable so it's not hanging loose and unless you really stare at it you can't tell. Easiest solution. Thank you. I was thinking about returning the PSU and getting something simpler but would not be worth the hassle
