PC having problems posting.

My PC is old so I won't bother posting the specs. I already know I need a new PC.

Last night my PC was working fine, but when I turned it on this morning it would not post and it just beeped at me, like a flatline beep lol. The display in the PC stops on C1.

When I opened up the PC I discovered that my exhaust fan died. I am not sure when. My PC was overclocked, so the dead exhaust fan may have allowed for the CPU to be damaged.

Anyways after pushing the reset button on the motherboard a few dozen times the PC finally posted and boot into Windows. My PC works, but anytime it goes into sleep mode or I turn it off, it won't post immediately and needs to be reset until it finally boots.

So my question is, does anyone have a clue what the problem might be?

Is it the CPU or could the hard drive be failing?

My PC is working fine right now at least until I need to reboot, so I am just trying to figure out what is causing the problem and if it is fixable.

sorry miscommunication, Re-seat not reset, meaning remove the heatsink and remove the CPU from the socket, then replace the CPU in the socket and reaffix the heatsink, after cleaning and replacing the thermal paste from the CPU and...

I did a couple restarts to check the beep and it booted fine, but did a shutdown and it failed to post and I can verify that it is just one long beep.

I reset it a few times and it booted. I did get a message that said that the memory frequency needed to be reset or something like that. Could that be an indication of a memory problem?

While the case is open remove and replace the RAM sticks
