Hi gang

Just upgraded a pc. Intel i5 7600, ASRock Z270 Pro4 and 2x8gb sticks of Corsair vengeance lpx 3200mhz RAM.

Bit of an odd one im at a loss.

The MoBo manual designates A2 and B2 as priority 1 slotting for dual channel.

It will not post with the dimms in A2 and B2 (but originally it did). It will only post in A1 A2.

Speccy and Windows 10 pick up 16GB of RAM with it in A1 A2 and the RAM seems very stable and has been zippy in my gaming sessions so far.

The short of it is: Is there any drawback to it not being slotted in A2/B2? What things should I be looking for or testing?

Ive read this configuration may mean its not in proper dual channel mode... but if the RAM is smooth and running at about 35% usage on Windows resource monitor during heavy gameplay and all 16GB is listed available, should I be concerned?

More rambling if reqd...

When originally setup the pc had both modules in a2 b2 and it posted. Bios saw both. Windows picked up both. System was unstable and froze constantly but it did load into Windows for up to 15 minutes at a time.

I flashed the bios. Updated every driver on the system and did all the troubleshooting i could find.

Eventually the crashes stopped and system stabilised. But then I noticed only 1 dimm was being discovered and used.

I reseated both dimms and after that it failed to post while in a2 b2.

Each dimm runs fine individually and they both wirk in a1 and a2.

I ran a mem checker diagnostic from bootup and it reported no faults.
