Hello Everyone,

So about a year ago I bought an Alienware 13 R2, shorty after I got talked into buying a Asus Strix GL702VM. Going to college having the small Alienware comes in handy and using the Asus as a Desktop. Now, I am wondering what to do because I don't really need two computers. I cannot decide which computer to sell because I am a huge tech lover and they are both so great. I I was fooling around with using synergy (the file/peripheral sharing software) or selling my Asus (bc worth more) and building a desktop with the money. Can anyone help me out with this decision making process or any knew idea's?

Thank you in advance.

I would personally sell the asus and keep the alienware. Provided you're not doing too much high end gaming and mostly using the alienware for study purposes, you're good. Then when you're not in lectures/classes you can boot up your gaming PC and get more satisfaction out of that for being a proper desktop as you would be able to build a better desktop vs laptop with that money.

Well, the Asus is better for sure, and you could get more for it yeah, but not necessarily enough to build a better desktop.
The R2 is losing value everyday as well though, but it's not a terrible gaming laptop.
Do you still need the portability of a laptop? Because you may want to sell both, and then with that money you'll have a better desktop for sure.

If you mean selling the asus and buying a desktop, even if you get (x) amount of money from selling the laptop to buy a desktop which is equal to or better than the performance of the laptop. Having a desktop allows room for you to upgrade at a later date if you're not getting the desired performance. Where as a laptop depending on the model is not always easy to upgrade.

The usual reasoning behind a laptop is for ease-ability of use around and about among other reasons like saving space (I personally own a laptop and a few gaming desktops and i'd rather not carry around a 27" laptop screen where ever i go). A desktop allows for larger viewing apparatus (pretty big factor imo), ease of repair, allowing for a larger amount of RAM and the reason i stated above- there are some other reasons but keeping it simple i need not go in-depth.

Not sure if i answered what you wanted but, just write back if you have a more specific question.
