.40 file extension for BIOS? Should I rename to .exe?

I am trying to update the bios of ASRock x370 Killer SLI. I downloaded the latest bios, version 2.40, from their main website. The problem is that the bios update file is .40 extension, and that doesn't seem right. I do not know whether I should change it to .exe, since in the manual for bios update available online, it shows that the bios file is .exe...

I can't understand why a company would name their file like that. And this seems to be common too. Thank you for your help.

Solution
Wait a sec. Is your mobo Killer SLI OR Killer SLI/ac? BIOS file for one is X370KLI2.40, for other it is X370KLA2.40. If you downloaded wrong BIOS file, name will not match with what Flash expects.

I am getting 'no image file detected.' notification when I press Instant Flash in bios. I made the USB my primary device and it is a FAT32 (It is a brand new SandDisk USB with 3.0 support, I have it currently connected to the 2.0 port, however.)

I have restarted after making the usb the primary boot device.

Ahh sorry thank you for ur help but turned out I downloaded driver for x370 killer ac not x370 killer like I was suppose to. Naming conventions are awful.
