I looked at some other posts and tried what they said but still no luck.

I have the Killer SLI x370 MB and have been trying to mount the Hyper 212 Evo to it but no matter what I do, it doesn't fit! Is this cooler compatible with this motherboard?

Help would be greatly appreciated!

I tried the different screw holes on the bracket and it still doesn't line up.

http://www.coolermaster.com/amd-am4-ryzen-compatability/en/ look at the part RR-ACCY-AM4B-R1 this is what you need to mount your EVO on this motherboard.

thanks for the quick response. I didn't get the AM4 plate, only whatever came in the 212 evo box. The guy at my local computer store said the evo should fit. Should I just go back and exchange it? Would you just recommend I get the special bracket, or a different cooler all together?

My CPU is the Ryzen 5 1600X and didn't come with a cooler.

I didn't know it was new, this is my first build.

Ah yes. The "X" version doesn't come with a cooler. You can try and get the new backplate, but most coolers will require you to wait to ship out the new backplate. People say the EVO is dying, but in my opinion, it gets the job done. You can try to exchange it, but you still need a cooler before booting.

Thanks, I realize I need that new mount. So I'm just gonna go back to the store and get a new cooler before they close. Do you have any recommendations for what I should get for the Ryzen 5 1600x?

Am4 is a brand new amd platform. Unlike previous versions, amd departed from its usual mount specs that it's used for more years than ppl usually think of. With this shift, you'll end up with a lot of previous stock that still has only the Am3+ older style and not the newer bracket. As retailers rotate out older stock, it'll get to a point where you start getting the new bracket included, but until then it's potluck if you get one or don't. All that needs doing is contacting the manufacturer, tell them you just purchased their cooler from such and such store, and they'll almost certainly ship you a new bracket, usually free of charge. It'll mean a few days wait, but that's the price of having new technology sometimes. Companies won't recall all the old stock, that's usually $millions, because to break the security seal and add the bracket means it's no longer 'new' it's now 'like new' or factory refurbished, so they can't sell it as 'new' and get the premium price. Cheaper by far just to wait and let ppl contact them for the few brackets needed as most coolers are universal, so some will go on Intel, some on am3+ etc, so there's relatively fewer Am4 brackets actually needed.
