Hi,

I have put together a parts list for a £1500 ish pc for video editing / game development / 3D rendering (obviously for the price I'm not expecting professional standard performance).

I was thinking: i7-7700k (overclocked)
Strix Z270-E motherboard
NZXT Kraken X62
16GB 3200 mHz RAM
GTX 1050 ti STRIX (not really going to be gaming much)
750W power supply
SSD boot drive and HDD storage drive

But; for an extra £80 I could get the 6800k and an ASUS X-99 A-II board
For an extra £160 I could get the 6850k (thinking about extra PCI-E lanes)

Or I could go to an i5-7600k and save £100, or even the 7500 and the B250 platform and save £350

Any help deciding between these (or other suggestions) would be great!

Cheers,

Daniel

I would go with Ryzen 7, or wait for Skylake-X since you will be able to utilize more cores. The intel way will obviously be more expensive, But can edge out on performance compared to Ryzen in some instances. So it really depends on your budget.

So my recommendation would be Ryzen 7 1700X with an X370 Motherboard, or The upcoming Skylake-X 7820X with a proper X299 board. Both processors are 8 cores with multithreading.

Thanks for that, I'd not considered AMD
