The multi core scores are not even close. When Intel, Apple(Arm), AMD etc develop these low power CPU's for tablets, phones, and laptops they trade off cores and frequency to meat certain thermal(heat) loads so more cores may not have the best single core scores as they have to keep frequency in check due to heat. So Apple's singe core score looks good but then its a 2 core cpu that you are comparing to 4 core 4 thread and a 4 core 8 thread cpu. However Apple does have a fine chip designed by Arm and it is possible in the very low power arena yes they could be better than Intel. Outside of very low power they do not hold a candle to AMD or Intel though as james_mason pointed out comparing an iPhone7 cpu to a AMD Ryzen 1700, that was funny.

Do you think an A10 could beat a gaming laptop? With an i5 7300hq? And also, why are there differant scores for the same CPU?

Not even close. They are for
1 using a completely different architecture that lacks a lot of instruction sets (required to run certain code that games need)
2 the a10 comes with a weaker gpu than the integrated of the i5.
Sure the a10 trades blows with intels atom cpu's but thats about it.
Why do you want to know this actually?

Im planning on getting a gaming laptop, and I didnt want to get it olny to find out an iPad is more powerful.

OK let's sum this up in the most simplest terms. A mobile/tablet/phone CPU is totally different in power draw/performance and basic functionality to an Intel or AMD processor that goes into a gaming laptop or PC they are just not comparible. Apple will never be on the same playing field as AMD or Intel when it comes to gaming or even graphics design. If your getting a gaming laptop look for something along the lines of an i5 or i7 with a 1050ti or better.

think about that for a second. if it an ipad was more powerful then an intel laptop why wouldn't it have games like call of duty or overwatch?
