So i am planning on building my first pc from scratch, i have not yet decided all the components i am going to use but i was wondering, wich software do i need to install or update for optimal performance? I know about the GPU drivers but thats about it.
So what im basically asking is: what do i need to do after i physically built my pc?

I hope you guys can help me even tough it's tomsHARDWARE.

I would suggest, once you've picked out a motherboard - you look at the motherboard vendors site and download all the drivers listed there (for the board + OS combo) ahead of time. You may wish to head to nVidia or AMDs site and download the drivers for your GPU ahead of time too.

When prompted to connect to a network during setup, I'd skip that initially and install your previously downloaded drivers (transfer via an external HDD or USB drive etc).

Once those are installed, connect to the internet and run Windows Update and it'll find anything else you need (shouldn't be much, other than Windows patches and the odd driver here & there).

Alternatively, connect to a network when prompted and let Windows do it's thing...

Alternatively, connect to a network when prompted and let Windows do it's thing. Then go to the motherboard & GPU manufacturers site and download the drivers listed. IF Windows installed a newer version, it'll let you know and you can just skip that one.
