after a month of learning how to overclock, i've settled on 4.2ghz at 1.20 Vcore (fluctuates between 1.216 - 1.234 and is only stable like this), offset voltage at -0.120.

4.4ghz requires over 1.320, and if i try for 4.5ghz it wants more than 1.350. i don't think i wanna go past 1.350 till upgrading the chip is in the near future.

my question is, did i just get unlucky in the lotto, or is there anything i can look into tweaking to get a lower voltage with a higher clock?

bonus question - unrelated, i'm installing some new fans. i have two 140 fans in the front, adding two 120 fans to the bottom. i'm going to plug them all into a four fan hub. they're all pmw fans. will it be a problem that the two types of fans have different max rpms?

thanks very much :D

Btw make sure you check your temperature when overclocking. Also check your voltage in windows, because it may be different. To avoid voltage drop make sure you balance your LLC, in DIGI+ VRM section when u go advanced mode F7. For my board lvl 6 was perfect. Most likely u lost silicone lottery for your chip. 100-200mhz doesnt really matter a lot, you wont notice much of the difference in games.

Use adaptive voltage not offset, try to overclock with manual voltage first then set it to adaptive with same value.
If your cooler installed properly put manual voltage to 1.300v and clock to 4.6, if pass test try higher. all other settings leave on default for now.

I used manual while I was testing. Then set the voltage to adaptive. Someone on this forum suggested offset voltage. If the voltage is where it needs to be.. Is there an advantage over one or the other method?

No chance u need more than 1.350V for 4.5, so then you doing something wrong, find guides on google then if it doesnt work my way. goodluck
