Need a new processor

I'm looking for an AMD processor that will work well with my graphics card so that it won't be bottlenecked. The processor needs to be AM4 and I also need a new motherboard.

What motherboard do you have? The only real upgrade right now is to the Ryzen. The only other choice is like the 8350, but those are pretty much rubbish. So if you're hooked on AMD, you're looking at Ryzen 1600 and mobo/ram that'll support it

Absolutely any of the ryzen will be fine with a 480.

What you buy depends entirely on your budget for board /ram/CPU.

Why an AMD processor, they are quite good right now, but I hope you aren't falling for the AMD works better with AMD logic?

You also need new ram , your current board takes ddr3 , am4 takes ddr4.

Yep,

Chip: I like the 1600 personally.
Mobo: I've heard decent things about the B350 Tomahawk. apparently pretty good for the price point
RAM: 16 GB DDR4 RAM of your choice. can't go wrong with g.skill or corsair

The best bang-per-buck Ryzen CPU is the R5-1600, so I'd aim for that for inexpensive reasonable future-proofing.
