Graphics Card for the next 2 years

Greetings.
I am currently the owner of a R9 280x. I play ONLY World of Wacraft at medium(5/10) settings and 1080p. I've never been properly introduced to good graphics so I never stressed about it. But recently I saw what 9-10/10 can offer and I want a taste of it, so I want to upgrade the GPU.
I bought the R9 2 years ago and for the next 2 years I'll probably play WoW only, but maybe I'll get in line with the world and try smth else.
From what I've read, the GTX1060 6gb is good for me(maybe not 10/10). For another 70$ I can get the 980ti, which I read is much better, but will it hold up for the next 2 years? The 1060 is newer and all that. For another 80$ I can get the 1070, but I'm not sure I'm ok with spending 450+$ on a video card for a game like WoW.

So my question is, buy the 1060 or stop eating in town for 1 week and get the 980ti?

PS: my PSU is a gold 550W I think(not at home, can't check)
PS2: IF by any chance the 908ti won't fit in my case(doubt it, but hey), do you have any other recommendations instead of 1060?

Thanks for the help.
Regards,
Stefan.

Hello there

The 1060 will most likely suit all your needs for the next couple of years, no matter what you plan to play. The 980TI and 1070 perform nearly identically, so just pick whichever you prefer (the 980TI is probably cheaper, but uses more power than the 1070).

You could also choose something from AMD's side. Their RX 580 performs similar to the 1060, and AMD's products usually have a longer "lifespan", if you will. The RX 570 is slightly cheaper than the RX 580 and GTX 1060, but naturally performance is also slightly behind (but not by too much).

And 550W should be enough to power any modern graphics card. The RX 580 and GTX 1060 only use about 150W and 120W respectively.

So in short; GTX 1060 or RX 580 if you only plan on...

the 980ti is cheaper than 1070 and if it will perform the almost same for the AAA games that I may or may not play, I'll go for it.
Idk why my country doesn't have RX580. The only ones I found are the same price as 1070...

Thank for the help. Cheers.
