I was playing a game on my pc like I normally do with a controller when all of a sudden my controller wouldn't connect to my pc anymore. I use a wire, so I figured it was a problem with that. I tried everything from a different controller, a different wire, to a different USB slot, and nothing works. I went in my device settings and my computer doesn't even detect that anything is there. I went into device manager to see if there was anything I could fix there and nothing caught my eye. Please help!

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs and ofc the controller you're using.
List them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
Chassis:
PSU:
OS:

Are you on the Xbox One Controller or the Xbox 360 controller? In either case, have you made sure your motherboard BIOS, chipset drivers as well as the device drivers are all up to date?

You might want to rule out a faulty USB port by trying to populate it with a pen drive and see if it's detected by the OS.
