DVD player wont read new ddisc

My pc plays audio discs but won't accept a windows 7 reinstall disc. I have had many problems associated with windows updates so bought a new win 7 package which will not load. Is my disc player out of date ? If so can I buy an external player that uses a usb port to install windows 7?

There are several ways to fix Windows update issues without needing to buy a new Windows setup. Windows 7 comes on a DVD, if your disk player is only a CD then it will not read it. Yes you can get an external DVD player.

Thanks to hang-the-9 for his advice. Now that my new external dvd player is working I find that it will not load the new version of windows 7 in safe mode. My existing win 7 wil not load normally.
Any advice ? Thanks.

You don't install Windows from inside Windows you need to boot off the disk then run the setup. You may want to put in some details about what exactly is happening and the computer brand/model and specs.
