I have several older hard drives from desktop PC's.

I have 2 Western Digital external hard drives
a 1 TB and a 3 TB
and 3 or 4 internal laptop hard drives.

The 2 external WD's just quit working while in the casing but works fine with a USB adapter. This is where I get confused about a casing for them. The WD's are
WD Caviar Green (1TB, SATA-300, 32MB Buffer)Connector Type 7 pin Serial ATA Storage, Interface Serial ATA-300 Interface Serial ATA-300.

One is Storage Interface Serial ATA-600 Interface Serial ATA-600.

I have other internal drives that are basically the same as above. The laptop drives are Connector Type 7 pin Serial ATA ,Storage Interface Serial ATA-300. Now heres another thing I don't understand, I also have drives that are IDE drives.

Is it possible to purchase an enclosure that allows for both types? I have a lot of photos on all these drives I'd like to retrieve and then maybe I'd just use the largest drives to keep in the enclosure. One drive belonged to my son who passed away at 18 from childhood cancer. His computer, windows, messed up and I pulled the drive and gave the rest away. I know he had photos and drawings, etc on it so it important to me to retrieve that information, its an IDE drive.

So I guess I'm asking is there an enclosure that will work with all drives, do I need to buy anything to connect the drives in the enclosure or does that come with enclosures? my 2 WD externals have the card attached? Would that need to be removed or replaced? I'm sorry for so many questions but I really could use help figuring out which enclosure to purchase and what if anything else I'll need to use these drives. If I can't use the IDE drives then I have an adapter kit I can try to remove the data with it. I'd like at least a 4 or 5 bay for the larger sized drives and will probably purchase an additional 3 to 5 TB drive to put in it as well. Please help?

The model numbers for the external WD are WD10EADS and WD30EZRZ, the one with all the pins is Maxtor 4D040H2, The laptop drives are WD WD320OBEVT and Samsung Momentus ST320LM001 These are just the ones I've got available, I have others that are in storage. I kept them over the last 15 years I guess, I'd mostly like to get the photos off all the older drives and keep the larger size newer drives. I think if I could get a 5 bay, since I'm also wanting to purchase another one approximately 4TB or up, I'd have enough space to save all the photos and video's from all the other drives that's in storage and keep the new 4TB or up for a "starting now point of reference". Also I have 2 of the SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable for 2.5 / 3.5 Inch Hard Drive / 5 inch Optical Drive with External AC Power Adapters. So I guess retrieving the data from the old drives would be my best option using one of those adapters. If I did that then I would need an enclosure for 3 3.5 drives and 2 2.5 drives. If its cheaper to buy a 3 HD enclosure and then 2 single 2.5 enclosures then that would be ok. It'd make the laptop drives more portable, but I don't really see that I'd be needing anything portable once I'm able to unload photos and videos even off the laptop I'm using to free up space. I do a lot of photography is why I need so much space, everything is at the highest resolution and also tons of video's from where I converted all my VHS to DVD and kept copies on the drives just in case. I just want to do this cheapest way possible even if it means getting separate enclosures for part of the drives. Im just confused about the SATA 1 2 3 thing and about these externals having the card still mounted on them, if I needed to buy anything different to connect them in the enclosures or if it comes with the necessary hardware. Please forgive me, I just really need some since of direction with the type of drives I have and the type of enclosure/s I need. I appreciate the time from anyone who can help me.
