How does an SSD work?

Solution
Basically yes. Makes boot times and program launch times much faster which makes the computer seem much faster in general. Yo't really need to install games on it but if you want to you'll need a reasonably large one. For OS only 120- 256GB is fine, for games installs the bigger the better.

A common approach is to use an affordable SSD for the OS and a regular hard drive for everything else, generally games taking a little longer to start is not an issue for people.
