Need help picking out a router

I need help picking out a router that has 2.4ghz band and a 5ghz band.
right now I have the default one that comes with Verizon Fios, but I'm only getting 2 bars out of 4.
I use it for gaming and streaming movies/tv.
I want one with more range/speed.
someone recommended me the D-Link AC1200 DIR-842 Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Wi-Fi Router, but I'm not sure how it compares. I would like to stay under $100. any recommendations?

I've had a good experience with Asus networking gear and I'd recommend you go for this. You can easily expand upon it with external storage(via USB).

I use to be a D-Link man, but after getting an ASUS I never looked backed. I am rocking the ASUS RT-AC56U and have ASUS Merlin installed.

It would be a lot better than that. You get 802.11ac, customization of your network, logging details, and if that wasn't enough, you can flash a custom firmware for even more creativity. Sort of like rooting your ASUS. Except it's competely legal.
