I own an ASUS G53SX-A1 that I bought in 2011, It has two SATA 2.5" ports , The hard disk that came with it was SATAII , I wanna know if the ports support SATAIII or not....Is there a way to find out ?

Many Thanks

All SATA drives are backwards compatible, and even if it is SATA II only, you're going to have an extremely hard time finding any half-decent drive that isn't SATA III.

Just get the drive you want and plug it in. It'll run at SATA III or SATA II and that'll answer your question. It's actually basically irrelevant anyway unless you have two SSDs in the same system and want to regularly copy data between them. Very few HDDs, and basically no laptop HDDs are fast enough to saturate the SATA II interface.

i know that if you put a SATAIII disk into the SATAII port it would work, I just wanna know if the ports support SATAIII...it takes 15 seconds for Ubuntu Gnome to load from the boot menu to desktop on a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120GB, On my Other PC which is more beefed up, Windows takes 5 seconds to boot from pushing the button to desktop....i used to think that my laptop supports SATAIII....but 15 seconds boot time made me doubt it...

so the ports are SATAIII ? and 15 seconds is because of RAM and CPU ?

You are comparing a 6 year old laptop to a desktop. There is no comparison in performance. The SATA type is not the limiting factor.
