How big PSU for DIY server/NAS?

Hey Community!

I'm currently in the midst of building a server/NAS. Therefore the system would be on 24/7.

My current build is set to be:
MOBO - Supermicro X10SRA
CPU - Intel Xeon E5-2680v3
RAM - 4x 16GB DDR4 2133MHz
PCIe - LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-8i
HDDs - 5x HP 2TB SAS
HDDs - 3x WD RE 4TB SAS
FANS - 2x Noctua NF-S12A FLX

Haven't decided on CPU heat sink just yet, but I'm thinking of one of Noctua's or Cooler Master's.

The disks are going to be run in 2x RAID5 configurations through the MegaRAID controller, totalling 2x pools of 8TB storage.

For the PSU I'm thinking of buying either Seasonic G-650 or G-750, though I've heard that the G-750 is lesser in voltage regulation...

So can you recommend either of those, or do you have any other suggestions?

Help is much appreciated, thanks!

All parts but your cpu are pretty low wattage users,so these don't take much.I see where he's going with the drives using 35watts per piece,i have to take his word for that, but are you really going to acces all drives at once?
Fans that use 15/30watts? Looked at the specs of your choice and see this,

Max. Input Power 1,44 W

The only thing that might use alot of wattage is the cpu, which is a 120TDP cpu which means that with a normal cooling solution it could dissipate about 120watts ergo what it about will use. With what the nas/server is for i can't imagine that the cpu will have to go full throttle anytime. You're not going to push it with either games or prime95 for instance.
Even if you did can't i think of one reason why...

Being what it is do i not think that this will use that much power so a good 450watt should already be fine like the next,
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/cg4NnQ/bitfenix-whisper-m-450w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-bp-wg450umag-7fm
this has 8 sata connectors if you want dedicated ones for the hdd's.
Other options,

all good in their own right. You don't need that kind of power, but even at lower wattage use will they have a decent efficiency.

I have been using the first post in this thread for calculations and reference:
https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/proper-power-supply-sizing-guidance.38811/

I'm aware that my peak wattage, according to this post, will be around 520W - but the post states that the preferred size should be 25% higher, which equals to 650W.
Furthermore, the post states that 20% of the PSU's wattage should be below the Idle wattage of my build, which in turn would mean a 750W PSU would hit this sweetspot.

My knowledge on PSU's isn't too great, I just know that the Xeon processor I'm using potentially could use a lot of power.
My concern is that I want the PSU to be of great quality (hence Seasonic which I've heard great things of), of enough power to expand up to 12 HDD's some time, and efficient. My main priority is longevity, since the system will be online 24/7.

I've seen many posts with a lot of different PSU wattage recommendations, so it's kind of a jungle searching through...

I'm wondering on what concern you think a 450W PSU would be plenty?

Hope you can clarify!

Even if you did can't i think of one reason why those parts would use more than half that psu can deliver in daily use.

In the thread you link the op talks about using $16 psu's which the one i link certainly isn't.

If you want a higher wattage psu are the other ones linked good options as well. The "G" series of Seasonic are good but the ones i linked are imo just as good or better. Most certainly the G2 units.

Thank you very much! That was just the clarification I needed!

I think I'm gonna check up on your suggestions in my country, and compare to the Seasonics.
Thanks again! :-D
