Hello everyone, i'm a digital artist looking to buy a new monitor after mine just died (a super old dell 30inch). i'm still deciding between the ultrawide LG uc98 and the dell 4k ultrasharp 32 inch. i work on alot of large, high res paintings and do little to no gaming.

My problem is that most new monitors seem to use HDMI and since my pc is pretty old now my GPU only has VGA connectors. because of this im guessing i need to upgrade that whatever my choice. As im relatively happy with my PC in general, i'd only want to upgrade stuff if i really need to and not go too crazy with it.

I was hoping you guys could take a look at my spec and suggest a GPU that could run these types of monitors and hopefully still be compatible with my other parts

Spec:
CPU: Intel core i5-2500k 3.3ghz 4 cores
MB: MSI MS-7681 P67A-GD55
GPU: MSI twin frozr GTX 560 ti 2gb
8Gb ram
120gb SSD

I would really appreciate any insights, many thanks :)

You need a Quadro card to edit 10-bit color. Geforce can NOT do it. Those are for GAMERS and not professional work. They do it for a reason and it's why you pay more. BUSINESS gets support that gamers do not and they don't want you making games and movies with game cards. The cheapest is the Quadro P400, and you should make sure your monitor is a true 10-bit panel and not 8+FRC. Your PSU doesn't matter since the P400 draws power from the board.

Geforce only outputs 10-bit HDR in DX games and cannot do it in pro apps like Adobe. And there are no HDR games since of course HDR monitors only came out this year.

You could go for a GTX1050Ti or even a GTX750Ti provided you'e not looking at gaming with the latter card but they both support 4K resolutions. Mind sharing where you're located, where you'd like to purchase from(preferred site)and a budget?

thanks for the replies! I'm based in London currently, i guess ebuyer is usually my preferred site but i dont mind where i shop too much. My PSU is a Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750W

I guess i was looking to spend no more than £100-150 on the card. Really just want something that will meet the bare minimum to somewhat comfortably run photoshop on such monitors - was even thinking of doing a dual screen setup using an ultrawide paired with a 4k 27inch perhaps.
