I'm looking into getting a "new" ramstick, currently only got one and it's not performing TOO good.
"Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 C9 1x8GB"
According to userbenchmark it is performing poor but still "above expectations". ( 31.7%, 69TH of percentile)
Not to mention i kinda need more memory.
specs-
Asus Z87-K
i7-4770
GTX- 780TI (msi)
samsung 840 Evo 120gb
WD green 2TB (2012)
Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 C9 1x8GB

Everything but the GPU is performing "good" according to userbenchmark, GPU has just fallen in the yellows (70.4%) so i might be looking into getting a new one as it could be (i'm guessing) one of the reasons my games have started lagging a bit more often lately.
And the memory while still performing good, like i said it's in the reds which i'd preffer it not to be in.
basically i'm looking into getting a new motherboard, gpu& one extra ram stick

Not too smart with computers so these questions might sound a bit "dumb" to some experienced PC builders out there, sorry for that.

1. I should be able to buy any ram that is labeled as "DDR3" right?

2. My max ram should be 32GB, (according to https://www.cnet.com/products/asus-z87-k-motherboard-atx-lga1150-socket-z87-series/specs/ )

3. What ram do you guys think i should look into getting?

4. While i probably shouldn't ask this here, i might aswell -> Any good motherboard that works with my pc and visually pleasing?

if you need to know case i might get an H440 soon. currently silencio 550? or something like that from CM, basically a "silent" black box.

1- if youre getting a z97 motherboard, yes, any ram should be fine marked as ddr3. aim fro 1866mhz or higher
2- should be 32. but 16 gb would be more than enough. i would get 2 8gb sticks in a package
3 - w.e is on sale would be fine. (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/KQ4gXL/gskill-memory-f32133c9d16gxh) would work
4- i would not buy a new motherboard if youre not upgrading your cpu. i see no reason to. and honestly, your cpu is already very strong so i wouldnt bother wasting your money.

my advice depending on your budget, swap out your ram with a 2133 or 2400 mhz 16 gb kit (2x8gb), sell your 780 ti and pick up a gtx 1070 , 1080, or 1080 ti.

that should speed up your gaming quite a bit

1. No. It needs to be identical to your current module. Mixing speeds(1600MHz), timings(C9) or voltages(1.5V) is a VERY bad idea. Even mixing identical modules can prove troublesome for a very small percentage of users.. They are identical WHY!!!! aren't they working together? That is why RAM modules are also sold in kits. When purchased in kits you can be certain the modules will play nice with each other.

If you are instead looking to buy a completely new set you can purchased any DDR3(not L) 240 pin RAM module. 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 1.5V is what I purchased for my socket 1150(same socket as yours) motherboard.

2. YEs

3. The same exact module.

4. You can go here https://pcpartpicker.com/ and click on Start your system build(top left). It has so many options for each and every part including the motherboard.

COLOR
All
Black
Black/Red
Black/Silver
Black/White
Brown/Black

You can tell it how much you want to spend on each part as well as the features you want. After those options you can then filter even further by price, ratings etc..

Do you have a budget?

Why the new board?

It's not performing as expected. Did you see the words dual channel up there? That means it prefers(the directions say to/ the manufacturer recommends) RAM modules to be installed in multiples of two.

While you can guarantee yourself no issues by buying a 16GB kit (or 32GB kit), you, more than likely, can add another stick of RAM... Match the specs of your current RAM as closely as you can, Voltage, Speed, CAS, RAS,etc timings... to cut back on the chances you'll have to play with them in the BIOS.

Don't know your RAM specs? Grab CPU-Z to find out. (free)

i would not go with z97 mb it a waste of money unless the z87 chipset missing somthing you need. make sure the mb has the newest bios. why your ram is not matching others speed in that program is your using one chip and it causing the mb to run in singal channel mode. with two dimms it run in duel mode.
