i replaced the hard drive on my laptop. i downloaded windows onto a thumb drive and it won't boot from the thumb drive. any help would be appreciated

Ah...well...that won't work.
The thumb drive needs to be actually bootable, not just the bare...

i did that and i even have went in and selected to boot from it directly and still doesn't work

i went to the microsoft page and downloaded the disk image iso file

Just the ISO won't work.
Assuming Win 10, go here to build a bootable USB stick:

Right.
But did you just copy the ISO to the USB stick?

Follow the actual instructions.

Ah...well...that won't work.
The thumb drive needs to be actually bootable, not just the bare ISO.
I am unsure of how to do that on a mac, simply because I'm not a mac guy.
