I had a problem where everytime I would play a game my computer would shut down giving me a power surge error. So I got a new PSU but the problem still remains. After I turned off the power surge warning in the BIOS now when I play a game my monitors will shut off and I have to reboot my computer for them to start working again.

GPU: gtx 980TI
PSU: EVGA 750W
MB: Asus Z97-PRO GAMER

Solution
Seems like your afterburner OC's might be causing the issue. Make everything default and remove after burner. See if it helps.

Well I dont get the surge error after I turned off the feature but it was pointing to the psu. So I bought a new one and it still happend. So then disabled it and now when I play a game my monitors shut off and I am forced to restart

I had to limit my power limit on my card through MSI Afterburner in order to make it happen less. But no nothing is overclocked right now

Ok so I set it to default and restarted. Still the same problem. For some games right when I launch it, both my screens turn black with no signal. But for others it takes a bit but it still does it.

On the..graphics card?
Download speccy and check your temps for your CPU/GPU and we can see if maybe its just hot.
