To be completely transparent, I am a complete beginner at computer building. Recently I built a computer using these (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Hhsq8K) parts. However, my motherboard doesn't seem to be reacting to anything, even when I tried breadboarding it. Here's a pic - I'll provide as much detail as I can, please help.

Check all your cabling again. Your motherboard is in place in the case....... right? You should no longer have to short the power pin on your motherboard. Do you have your case power connectors properly connector to the front panel header connector on the motherboard? Check your motherboard manual and ensure the proper case connectors are on the right jumpers on your motherboard front panel header. It is easy to get them crossed on installation.

I guess the pic didn't show, but (http://tinypic.com/r/5047eb/9) here it is. I tested the PSU and it's working fine. Please tell me what I can do, it hasn't responded at all since I got it.

Your motherboard is not dead yet. You can try to short the front panel power connector with a screw driver with the power supply connected and turned . If you are uneasy in doing that, can your connectors from your case which provide on/off/reset functions reach the front panel connector headings on your motherboard? If so you need to connect them to the motherboard header. Then you can power up your system out the case. You need to be able to do one of those two solutions to turn your system on. Just having everything connected as your system is now, is not going to allow that motherboard to fire up. Best of luck.

Make certain your 4 pin CPU power adapter is connected also. I see a screwdriver in your pic. Have you already tried to short the power pin on your front panel connector header?

Thank you, turns out the 24-pin connecters weren't fully plugged in. I was scared that brute force would break the pins but turns out it was needed in this case.

Here's the thing... It definitely worked when I breadboarded it, but once I installed everything back in nothing happens. I took out everything except the essentials, but it still doesn't start, even when I short circuit it with a screwdriver. However, I do notice small squeaking sounds from the PSU when I try to short the power connectors. Any clues?
