Hi all, I've got this problem where there are 2 svchost processes that are constantly using 30-50% of the CPU and I cant seem to find a solution to the issue.

http://imgur.com/a/rLR7k here are some screenshots of the services that the svchosts are controlling. I was going to start with disabling the services but the 3 (power, plugplay and dcomlaunch) are not able to be stopped or restarted.

Thanks in advance

which version of windows is this for? Only ask as in latest version of win 10 the services are split up a lot more and you can identify which one is exactly using the CPU

The DCOM group is still about the same though

can you Download Process explorer and run it as admin (it comes from Microsoft so its safe)

the default view is tree structure meaning like your task manager screen, it will show what processes are underservice, but unlike task manager, it shows the usage of each part so you can see what is using the CPU
This page shows what all the colours and headings mean, link at bottom of it shows how to use it to find problems. You can right click headers and run an av scan from within the program.

I generally use this...

I generally use this for Ram problems but it might help you work out which part is eating the CPU
