Community,

I recently upgraded from a 2500k CPU to a newer Z270/ 7700k based system. After the upgrade,
I have been having some random crashes during graphic intensive gaming. Here are my components

MB: ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero Z270
CPU: i7 7700k Quad Core 4.5 Ghz
Ram: 16 GB DDR4
GPU: GTX 980 TI 6 GB
PSU: Corsair HX 750
OS: Windows 10 64 bit
HD: 500 GB SSD 960 Evo M.2, 1 TB SSD Evo 840
Monitor: 2560x1440, 100 hrz

Activities such as web browsing, music, watching video, or playing older games will not cause a crash; however, playing newer games at 1440 (especially on high/ ultra settings) will cause a reset.

My GPU, the 980ti, is a factory OC Gigabyte Windforce and worked perfectly on my old system. As I have never overclocked it, I do not think there is a problem w the GPU.

I stress tested the CPU and I cannot get the system to replicate a crash.

I have not yet run any kind of diagnostics on the memory or motherboard.

Given that the system will only crash during graphic intensive activities, I suspect that the power supply may be the problem. Here are my questions:

1. Given my new components, is there ANY way that a 750 watt PSU would not adequately power the system?

2. Is there any diagnostic tool that can be used to troubleshoot the PSU?

3. If the power supply is not the problem, what is the next most likely cause of the crashes?
