Hello, i m thinking to buy the Threadripper when it becomes availiable and i have a few questions cause i always owned intel cpus.
a) What be a good motherboard for this? Not looking into fancy features, but stability as im gonna use it as a workstation. Ideally i d like a mobo with 4 gpu slots.
b) Is there any drawback when it comes to combining AMD cpu with Nvidia cards? cause i will be running some 3 x 1080ti in there.
c) What psu would i expect for a system like this?

Any tips appreciated.

I would wait a little while longer for reviews to appear, no one has really got there hands on or tested any X399 motherboards yet, but heres a sneak peak...

Yes nVidia GPU's will work, and with plenty of PCI-e lanes to go around, they'll probably all work at full speed.

As for PSU, running 3 high end GPU's and a 150w+ CPU, I wouldnt get anything less than 1000w.

1000W probably isn't enough or is cutting it too close even if you don't OC. Around 1300W is what I would look for a system like that.
