Hi, I am in the process of choosing parts for a new Ryzen build
here is what im looking at:

R5 1600 cpu
GTX 1070 - not sure which model as of yet
MSI AMD B350 GAMING PRO CARBON AM4 ATX Motherboard
16gb- ??? - DDR4 RAM

I would like to keep my current PSU if possible , the Corsair CX600
I understand that this is not a strong PSU however I've had no problems with it running my current setup : FX6300/270X for the last 3 years and after checking some PSU calculators it seems the new build will actually use less power from both the GPU and CPU.. any thoughts on this? if the PSU does struggle could it damage other hardware?

also... PLEASE HELP with RAM compatibility for this motherboard if you can, I'd like to use the fastest RAM i can get away with but it's really important to me that the system boots and is usable out of the box.

I mostly game at 1080p 60hz so the 1070 may seem overkill but it costs just £70 more than the alternative RX580 and I'd like to hit 60hz in ultra upscaled to 1440p with a bit more future proofing, would I be better off going for a RX580/GTX1060 and buying a new Gold rated PSU? I am hiting the limit of my budget so it is either/or at this stage. any other thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated, -thanks for reading

Solution
PSU ratings don't affect quality.
there are some pretty dreadful Gold rated units out there, and some really decent bronze rated.

check
MSI's memory compatibility list for Ryzen and pick up some DDR4 3000 or 3200 RAM that's supported by the board.

the GTX1070 is a good deal stronger than the Rx580.
upscaled to 1440p, I'd go with it.
as for the model -- it doesn't matter too much. all the 1070s perform around the same. I suggest getting the cheapest of the better series, mostly that's a Palit Gamerock or Jetstream, Gainward Phoenix, Asus Dual, Inno3d iChill, Zotac AMP, EVGA SC or Gigabyte G1.
the higher priced series (ASUS Strix, MSI Gaming, EVGA classified, Gainward GLH) are usually not worth it as they offer very little to...
gskill F4-4000C19D-16GTZ DDR4 4000 3200 samsung 1.35v ram 8g stick.
go with standard 3200 ram. any faster and it might be too costly for you. under support for the mb there a long list of tested ram.
for the gpu if you can hold off the newer amd gpu dropping end of june-july). may be faster then older ones.

the CX600 usually doesn't damage any hardware.
you're more looking at a higher chance of bluescreens, system instability or simply the computer shutting down and not coming back up again if it's lifespan is reached.
