Can't get PC build to post

I've been trying to do a basic build outside my case and still have had no successful post.

Parts:

MB: ASUS Prime Z270-k
CPU: Intel i7 7700k
Ram: G.Skill Aegis 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
PSU: EVGA G3 Gold fully Modular
Fan: Noctua

I've followed the many steps on Tom's Hardware website. I've tried 3 different sticks of RAM in all slots. I sent my MB back to where I bought it and they said it was okay. I just tested my PSU doing the paper clip thing and it turns on and the fan spins. My motherboard turns on and the other fans turn on when I power everything up. I get a beep message from my internal speaker telling me that my MB is not detecting the RAM, but as I said, I tried 3 different sticks. I've cleared CMOS many times.

Could it be the CPU or a possible CPU-MB combo that's the problem? Is there a way to test a cpu?

does that motherboard have the debug leds?

near top right corner of it are there leds that light up as it tries to post?

if so the one it stops at is your problem--ie ram,cpu,gpu etc

and if its got those rams slots with only the clip at the top and not the bottom its pretty easy not to insert the ram fully--the bottom half of it that is

what heatsink did you used?

did you connected the cpu fan in the cpu_fan connector?

did you connected the eatx 12v connector in the mainboard?

if you can take a picture of the build, the mainboard, we could perhaps see if you missed something there, some cable not connected or things like that

Do you get same beep code when you try booting without RAM at all?
In theory, it is possible that faulty CPU could cause the mobo to not see the ram properly installed. If you had your motherboard tested and considered working, it could indeed point towards CPU fault. However, the only way to find out for sure is either to test your CPU with different motherboard or test different CPU with your motherboard.

Yes, it's the same beep code. I'm wondering if there is place that I could bring to just test my CPU because it's hard to take around the full computer.

It has LEDs sort of at the bottom left corner (the CPU being at the top). There are 2 leds on the knob you use to press in PCIe stuff and then a little line running around the edge. They flash slowly on and off when I power on.

Yes, the RAM only clips in one side. I have tried that and pushed a little harder, but I can try again.

OH MY SWEET JESUS DUDE! i CAN'T BELIEVE IT. I didn't realize the RAM clipped into the other side because there were no knobs there. Dude I'm about to cry right now because I've been running around for 3 weeks not knowing what to do. Thank you soo much!!! OMG... I'm in shock right now. How did I miss that??

yes, the third picture shows one of the ram modules way out of the ram slot, perhaps the one on the left too

those new ram slots are not nice, i liked more the ones with two latches, the single one makes you feel you are going to break something

you arent the first person to do it believe me

like you said when you see no bottom clip you assume the ram doesnt need to be pushed down at that end

Thanks again everyone! What a wild ride that was. I even watched a video of guy putting in RAM on the exact same motherboard and still got it wrong.
