I'm swapping out an older motherboard for one of these.

Biostar A780L3B ver. 7.0
AM3 socket.
2x DDR3 Ram, 16GB max.
HT 3.2G.
1x PCIe x16 slot.
1x PCI slot.
4x SATA2 connectors.
1x Realtek LAN 10/100.
ATI Radeon HD3000 512MB on board graphics.

OR

Biostar TA770 A2+ ver. 5.0
AM2+/AM2 socket.
4x DDR2 Ram, 16GB max.
HT 5.2G.
1x PCIe x16 slot.
2x PCIe x1 slot.
3x PCI slot.
4x SATA2 connectors.
2x eSATA connectors.
1x IDE connector.
1x Marvel LAN 10/100/1000.

I'm in a tug of war between the two. I like the AM3 socket and DDR3 ram of the first.
But I also like all the PCIe/PCI slots and the Ethernet port speed of the second. The HT speed is also better on the second board.

I have two processors AMD Phenom II x4 B97 and an AMD Phenom x4 9650. Which one I'll use will depend on which board I get.

Could someone please point me in the right direction between the two. I know they are both outdated but it's for an outdated system so they fit perfectly I just need to know which one will give me better gaming performance. Thanks!

Solution
Its easier to get DDR3 RAM so the A780L3B is probably the best bet. I have the TA770 and works ok as I had a lot of old DDR2. I find on overlap on the cpu support list so what CPU are you going to use?

Thank you for your help Elbert. I will go with your recommendation, fortunately the AM3 board costs a little less than what the other guy is asking. Works out well for me. Thank again!
