Question: should I go for either and it 4690k or the i7 4790k

The i5 seems sufficient enough for what I'm going to do with it. I'm not running multiple GPUs, I'm not going to be rendering anything. Just 1080p gaming and maybe watch some 4k video in the future(maybe, maybe not, not too worried about that) mostly just gaming and browsing.

The i7 seems more future proof I guess you could say but I don't see myself playing anything that requires multi thread support at the highest of settings. Plus I'm not looking forward to spending the extra $120-150 for the i7 if the i5 would be all I need.

Also would the i5 bottleneck a GTX 1080 if I were to upgrade my GPU?

Solution
Based on the reasons you have clearly mentioned (1080p gaming, watching videos, not running multiple GPUs, not rendering, not looking forward to spend extra cash), the i5-4690K is best for your needs.

The i5-4690K can handle the GTX 1080. Only in very very limited/worst-case scenario can it "bottleneck" a GTX 1080, which you can easily solve by overclocking the CPU.

Thank you for the answer, i may just go with the i5, and I was already planning on overclocking atleast to 4ghz maybe 4.2ghz so the bottlenecking shouldn't be bad, if at all existent.
