Hi All,

I have been having problem with my new system:

- Mobo: MSI Z270 M3
- CUP: i5 Kaby Lake
- RAM: Vengeance LPX DDR 4 2x8gb 2133MHz

I had a windows 10 installed in my PC already and had been having problem using third party browser such as Chrome and Firefox where it kept crashing, especially Chrome. At some point my PC was unstable and and Chrome kept on crashing even more and the system would ran in to blue screen, below are the 3 types of error messages I received:

1. system thread exception not handled
2. System service exception
3. Page Fault In Nonpaged Area

One of these error message would show up with blue screen when I attempt to restart the computer, tho I was somehow able to get around to restart the PC.

I then decided to reinstall the PC through DVD which was unsuccessful, the system was installed judging from the setup process but when the system attempt to start up after the installation the blue screen occurs again with #1 and #3 error messages.

After than I attempted to reinstall using USB, same problem. I have tried to remove my GPU and only left the primary drive connected but still same problem. At this stage I am thinking if it would be the mobo or the RAM that is causing the problem. I really need to get the system working again so any input will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Update 1 - I tried putting the rams in different slot and only use one of them and swap around. same problem occurs
Update 2 - I installed a bios made available from MSI. There were three in total but I have only installed the newest one, problem is not yet solved with this attempt
Update 3 - Tried to install OS in different HD, issue still occurs
Update 4 - Attempted to swap around sata cable and ports. not a solution

Thanks for the suggestion, I actually did it, by the way there were a few bios update made available and I have only downloaded the latest one. Should I download all of them and install it or just download the latest one?

Tried, no luck, still blue screen and error message. using my previous sata cable and port seems to be a bit more stable with less blue screen but yeah still problematic.

Do you have a video card installed? If so remove it and just you the kabylake motherboard video. Disconnect all extra drive but the boot drive. Disconnect the DVD drive.

If none of this works take the motherboard out of the case and set it on the motherboard box. This tests if the motherboard is grounding in the case. Plug everything up to the motherboard while its setting on the motherboard box. Then test installing windows.

I had all the mentioned components removed and only kept the essential parts, namely CPU, Motherboard and boot drive. I am using USB to install the system so I didn't connect the DVD as well.

I just tested by setting the board on the box and same problem, blue screen showed up even before i got into the installation process.

Well I think you have a bad part. Probably the motherboard as we tested the RAM one at a time. The CPU probably isnt the cause. The PSU is the only wild card but weakened PSU should have managed without the video card. Get a new motherboard is my suggestion.

Thanks for helping me with the troubleshooting. After setting the motherboard on the box I managed to get to the windows and run a windows memory diagnostics tool to test the ram (Should I trust it?) which shows no problem.

At this stage i am also thinking the motherboard could be the cause.

just recently swapped to MSI for 6 moths and already the problem. Will never buy a board from them anymore. hopefully my MSI GPU will last long enough before my next upgrade.

Any suggestion on a new Motherbaord tho?
