Hi i have 6 computers and i want them all to be linked in together so each computer can access the other computers files. This is for a school based system so if someone saves a document on PC #1 i Need to be able to access the same file on PC #6 and on all the others.
Is there anyway to do this and if so, How?

Any help is much appreciated, Thanks!

Yes, you can designate specific permission levels. But what if Student B wants to delete Version 3 of a particular file that she created, and upload a new Version 4?

Or....have individual folders, 1 for each student system, and also a central storage folder for stuff they might want to access from any system.

They get the best of both worlds.

This what a 7th system is for.
One central file storage location.
Your 6 systems do not need to be linked to each other, just linked to various folders on this central system.

Make the default save location for the 6 systems to be a folder on the central system.

The 'folders' can be called anything.

On this 7th system:
7 Folders
PC1-PC6, and a 7th folder called "Central Storage"

Each client system will link to their relative PCx folder, and the "Central Storage Folder"
So each client system can save to either its own network space, or a folder that is shared among all of them.

Or...just have the one folder called "Central Storage"
All of the clients save to that all of the time.

What will these be connected to? A central router or switch?

To share..what OS are these systems running?
Generally, in Windows you would enable File and Folder Sharing, and Network Discovery.
Share that Central Storage folder to 'Everyone'
On the client systems, you can then discover that shared folder.
And Map a drive letter.

So the client systems might see just another drive letter....the "S" drive.
Use that for the default Save location.
The user does not know or care that it is a whole different system on the other side of the room.

Basically i know someone who runs a small college and has just bought 6 AIO PC's for the students all of these PCs are the same running windows 10. The idea is that each student can access there own work/Files without having to be on the same PC everytime.

These are all wired into the same network via ethernet and are all next to one another.
They are all connected into Lan going into a router.

Thanks again

6 systems is a pretty small "college".

Yes, you can designate one of the student systems as the central file storage location.
But ALL student files will be subject to what whoever is using that system for wants to do.

A central system that it outside the students control is far better.

Hmm didnt think about that. so even if i had a 7th system that all the students saved there files to how would i stop say a student on pc 1 accessing the shared folder and just deleting everyone elses work/files. is there a way to just have saving privileges and not deleting
