Hello I just bought a new pc with an i5 6600k OC to 4ghz, a 6gb 1060, and 8gb of ram. Now in arma 3 I'm getting 60+ frames all the time I went to try to play the dayz mod on arma 2 and I'm getting a max of 15 sometimes 5 it's the same way in the editor. I've already tried optimizing the game from several guides is there something that I am doing wrong here or is the game just poorly optimized?

As Carnaxus said Arma is Very CPU intensive but the 6600k should be able to handle it. One thing that helped me get more fps in arma 2 was throw it onto and ssd which made the game much more steady. The game is so old at this point that pretty much anything you run it on will lag. You probably saw it in the guides but make sure you put some form of anti-aliasing on because for some reason that causes the game to put more of the load on your GPU which strangely gave me a few more frames.

The ArmA series is insanely CPU heavy, moreso than any other game I've ever heard of. You may just have to grin and bear it; even the latest CPUs will probably get bogged down a bit by ArmA's large maps that are fully simulated in realtime.
