Hello!

I have php, apache, and mysql setup on my linux/ubuntu server and im just looking to use it to host some files for people to download. How can I do this? Im really stuck. I essentially just want to make a repository like http://www.sonsofexiled.fr/a3s-repository/

Thanks!

Solution
There are a few ways so make sure you research what your really want. IE do your want a strong security for sharing files on a ftp server or just a download for everyone repositor. I suggest the ftp server so you can control who access the server.

Here is a simple personal repositor setup: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Personal
Here is a highend repository: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Debarchiver
Here is a ftp server setup: https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/ftp-server.html
Here is fireftp to access the ftp server: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fireftp/

Solution
Do you need some pages describing what you host, or "Explorer"-like interface will be enough?
Do you want to authenticate your users (that is, to provide them with user name / password)?

Last but not least - how good is your Internet connection? Do the ISP provides you with real IP address?
