Random FPS drops during gaming.

This seems to be a common issue, so I've tried a lot of the solutions provided in previous posts, but none seem to work. Specifically I'm playing a lot of Overwatch right now, and whether it's during a team fight or not I'll just drop from 150 fps down to 30 for some reason for about 3-6 seconds. I tested it with a few other games on steam with higher graphical quality and they played alright, but seemed to suffer the same issue. I play with my settings on low to maximize my frames, but it will still happen with it on high as well.

Here is my build

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670 @ 3.40GHz
Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z87-A (SOCKET 1150)
Graphics Card: 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (EVGA)
RAM: 24.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)
Storage: 931GB Seagate ST1000DM 003-1CH162 SCSI Disk Device (SATA)
PSU: Corsair CX850M Modular
CPU Cooler: Phanteks tcp14pe
Case: NZXT-H440

My temperatures on my GPU hit around 65-73 degrees Celsius
My temperatures on on my CPU hit around 38-45 degrees Celsius
I'm using gsync, my monitor is 144hz with a 1ms refresh rate

What I've tried

*Increasing air-flow through new cooler/case
*re-installing games/client
*updating drivers
*adjusting settings in-game
*changing resolution

Any and all info/help is completely welcome, thanks in advance.

That does sound pretty strange. What resolution is your monitor, and how frequent does these fps lag spikes occur?

What I'd suggest doing, is downloading GPU-Z, and monitoring the GPU usage while playing your game. When the spike occurs, go back to GPU-Z and see if there was a lower in the GPU usage or clock speed, and also see if the wattage or voltage dropped (GPU-Z monitors a lot).

Also Task Manager would be useful for trying to see the CPU usage as well. Makes sure to see if you can see the CPU usage lowering during these lag spikes.

Got It, I have both open and I'll alt tab as as soon it happens to get more information.

To answer your first two questions it's 2560 x 1440 and I'd say 1-2 times every 10-15 minutes.

Monitored for awhile and these are the results:

GPU usage doesn't seem to go above 45%
CPU usage however seems to be all over the place from 30-100%

The lag spikes happen seem to occur at high moments with CPU usage.
