Stuck between cpu and monitor

So I have a tv right now and it's a 60hz. My build is gtx 1050ti g4560 1tb hdd 8gb ddr4 single channel. My problem is that I get choppy performance when fps is above 60 it looks all stuttery and feels bad but when I turn vsync on it fixes it but sometimes drops to lower frames in some games and I get input lag. So should I buy a better cpu to get better performance and still cap at 60 with vsync or buy a 144hz monitor so I won't have to cap the performance. Would I see much of a difference with a 144hz monitor or should I just buy a better cpu to ensure I get the best performace I can get. I was planning on getting the i5 7500 if I got a cpu. Thanks for any feedback

Yes, absolutely. Even if you had 8GB in 2x4GB sticks, it'd run faster than your single stick of 8GB RAM, because it could do multiple things at once. Single-channel means that it can only handle one thing at a time.

Your problem is that you're running single-channel RAM. Do you have two sticks or one? If you've only got one, get another identical stick and put it in the correct slot; just doing that should speed everything up quite a bit.
