Hello--I have the same problem that many others have asked about: I can't change the screen resolution. I have Windows 7, and I was able to play certain games when I first got the computer. However, I can't play many of those same games now, and when I download new games I can't play some of them and get the message that the game can't be played on the current screen resolution. My guess is that one of the Windows 7 updates caused this problem.

P.S. I have tried some of the solutions that have been published here; e.g., shut off monitor and computer, unplug monitor, reboot computer; update drivers.

Hi -- Thanks so much for your reply. I have news: you helped me solve the problem before you realized it. I opened the Control Panel and the automatic driver updater to gather all of the specs that you asked for. I found a whole section on the NVIDIA Settings, which I had never noticed before. I discovered that the video card was set for TV resolution only; and that must have been a default setting when the application updated. I unchecked the box for RV resolution only, and now all of the screen resolutions are available. So once again, I thank you kindly for your attention to the question and for your help!
Need specs of the computer, what video card do you have, motherboard brand / model, PC brand / model if it's an pre-built, etc... If you think this started after a Windows update, did you try to restore the system to a time before that update happened? Does the video card show up in Device Manger as the right model and with no errors? What resolution is the monitor set at? Why can't you change the resolution, you only see one to pick from?
