Does the Windows Update website still function in terms of giving updates up until the point that Microsoft put it as end of life.

I have to update all the .nets and manually update ie to latest. It fails right away after bare install. It always has though for me.

you could try wsus offline updater for xp
http://download.wsusoffline.net/wsusoffline921.zip
though not used it in years so no idea if it can still fetch the files or not

it actually still functions. paste http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx into internet explorer.

It works on a fresh install of Windows XP (november 2017).
I pasted http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx into IE8...
It's possible to do this also in order to have the latests updates of Windows XP Embedded POSReady (until 2019) : https://www.pcastuces.com/pratique/astuces/4092.htm
It's in french, sorry...
