So im building a new pc and planed on getting a hyper 212 evo. but instead of using the fans it comes with i planned on putting Corsair - Air Series Purple 2 pack 52.2 CFM 120mm Fans on both sides. I was wondering if that would be a good alternative than buying a 60 dollar cpu cooler like the dark rock 3?

Coolermaster had a new Hyper 212 LED shown off during Computex. You could look at the upcoming Cryorig Quad Lumi but that's $60. There's also LEPA NEOIllusion. These coolers are RGB LED so you don't need to buy fans seperately.

Otherwise get an AIO with RGB.
No, probably not.
The fan on the EVO is actually quite decent, and replacing it with push/pull with other fans really wont improve your cooling performance all that much.
If you are going to spend that much money on cooling, a more expensive cooler would probably be better since the heatsink is improved.

If you don't want to spend much on a cooler you can probably get away with using the 212 EVO as is, although you're going to be thermally-limited when it comes to overclocking. I have a 6700K at 4.5 GHz with a 212 EVO and I find it pretty reasonable in terms of temps and noise.

well im only replacing the fans for the led lights for my white and purple build. Could you list a $40 dollar cooler that would be able to overclock to 4.6 ghz if i were to replace the fans.
