so i was looking to build a gaming pc for 1080p 60+ fps. But i was hoping the system would be able to handle anything i threw at it for the next 3 years at least. i planned on getting an i7-7700k, GTX 1070, 16GBs of ram. i was wondering if this would be sufficient as i do not have the money for a 1080.

Solution
if you can wait a bit look at the cofee lake cpu. there going to be the same price but leaks have them at 30 percent faster then the cpu that are out now. also in a few weeks amd dropping there next gen gpu and sometime before the holidays nvidia volta should be out.

Right now, I hold some grudge against Intel because of their latest releases, but alas, your build is sufficient for 1080P for maybe 4-5 years. If PCI-e 5.0 is adopted quickly and shows some serious benefits that game creators instantly utilize, then maybe 2 years.
