I have a few inquiries of the new X299 Motherboards.

My first question is what is the best X299 motherboard for gaming? (Using I7 7740X)

My second question is, what is the socket on the X299 motherboard?

Lastly is there an MSRP for any of the motherboards? If not give an educated guess or estimate.

Regards,

Zife

I know they are announced, but no one has them, there wont be any more CPU's than has already been announced, that will be all you can buy, thats the thing with Intel in most situations, they release a new socket and every CPU that socket will ever support at the same time, then forget about it and start working on the next project.

Unlike AMD, who released socket AM4 and will continue to release CPUs for the next 4 years for that socket.

This will be the only CPUs available for that chipset and I doubt you'll see anymore:

Core i9 7980XE Skylake-X 14nm+ 18/36 ? ? ? ? 165W? $1999
Core i9 7960X 16/32 ? ? ? ? 165W? $1699
Core i9 7940X 14/28 ? ? ? ? 165W? $1399
Core i9 7920X 12/24 ? ? ? ? 165W? $1199...

1. No one knows as they've not been release yet

2. The socket is 2066

3. Between $300 and $600 dependant on features, plus an extra $300 for raid keys to use raid if you want it.

It's a flop and a waste of money unless you are going to get one of the high end cpus, $1000+, stick to mainstream Z270 etc or Ryzen.
