Hello..
I have a n Intel DH55PJ desktop motherboard hooked with an i3-540.
I previously had 2 sticks of 2 GB RAM running at 1333 MHz. I could install all operating systems on this configuration.
I also have a Geforce 210.
Now, I decided to upgrade my hardware and bought 2 sticks of Kingston value Ram which are of 4 GB each and run at 1333 MHz , and all other specifications are same as the old ram I was using. 8 GB is the maximum my motherboard can support.
I was previously running Windows 8.1 pro 32 bit and it was working fine. But after the memory upgrade I learnt that I need to have 64 bit OS in order to use all the 8 GB memory.
When I tried to my system OS to 64 bit with a full wipe, the installation would stop at the windows boot screen and restart at that point repeatedly.
However I was able to run the I installation completely when I switched back to the old ram.
Again, after completing the installation when I decided to put in my new ram back, the 64 bit OS wouldn't boot up after doing so.
It would only reboot at the windows boot logo.
Any solutions to this?
I have reverted back to 32 bit so as to use my new ram, but the whole memory is not usable. My main intension is to have a better PC for gaming, and video editing. I am also planning on upgrading my GPU to Geforce GTX 1050/ Ti.
I will need to run 64 bit OS on my hardware.
Any solutions to this without having to buy new ram again?
