I bought an asus ROG GL522VW a couple of months back and lately when i plug in an USB drive, some wierd stuff has been happening.

I've been working with my laptop to tranfer some heavy video files for backup when im out shooting. Suddenly me USB drives stop responding. The video files i've been transfering is ProRes 4K from an Oddyssey 7Q+ recorder.

When i first discoverd this problem, my extrenal USB drive showed up in explorer but crashed when i tried to open any folders or files on the hard drive. The same thing happend on other computers. I tought there were something wrong with this spesific disk.
I bought another USB drive that i've used on my other computer with no problem. Today I connected it to my asus Laptop and the drive dosen't show up in "my computer". I can find it in my "disk management". The same thing happens on my stationary computer that worked perfectry before i connected it to my laptop.

Have also experienced that an USB hard drive suddenly disconnects and reconnects while im trasfering files.

It seems like there is something wrong with my laptop or the USB ports, since this happens very often when i connect any USB drive to my laptop. And now im terrified to use my USB ports...

Have anybody had the same or are familliar with the problem? I've tried to innstall the lastests drivers with no luck.

Herman

I have the exact same model, but mine works just fine. No funny business with the USB drives at all. My advice: take it back to the seller and have it changed. Reason? The output on the USB, fries the USB drives.
